Happy and HEALTHY Christmas!

This is such a wonderful time of reflection and joy! I am beyond blessed to have lots of family to celebrate with at Christmastime. With two small children, the excitement and joy are almost palpable! 

As a tradition, we have always spent the night Christmas Eve at my maternal grandmother's house. In fact, I have never woken up on Christmas morning anywhere else! I feel so blessed and lucky to still be able to share this tradition with my husband and kids as I know it won't last forever.


Like most families, our traditions are also full of goodies- fudge, pralines, chocolate chip cookies, sugar cookies- the list goes on and on. I'm not expecting myself to be perfect- I'll enjoy the yumminess, but try not to overindulge, and I'll be working out every day except the day of Christmas when all of my energy will be focused on family!

Some tips to make your Christmas day a healthier one...
- Drink LOTS of water- at least half your body weight in ounces.
- Eat your fruits and veggies- at least 6 cups.
- Drink your shakeology- your healthiest and easiest decision of the day.
- Stand more than you sit- you'll burn more calories.
- Laugh a lot- Good for your waist and your soul!
- Focus on the company you keep, not the food you eat.

Wherever you may be spending this Christmas and whatever your circumstances, I hope you're able to take some time to reflect and focus on the blessings that surround you! I know so many have lost loved ones and this year will be very different than Christmases past. I pray for your comfort and peace and that you may find some happiness and hope in this most wonderful time of the year!

Princess Minnie cake

It is hard to believe my little girl turned ONE just a couple weeks ago! She is getting so big (although still small at just 17 lbs ;) ). Her big brother always wants her to be a princess, so she got to have a Minnie Mouse Princess party!


My mom always helps with the cake- she's been making my birthday cakes (Yes, I still get one even though I'm in my 30's and am now a health and fitness coach!). Even though the cake is still not "healthy" of course with tons of sugar, BUT she actually makes it from scratch now instead of out of the box! We're always searching for the best yellow cake recipe. For June's birthday we used this one.


I try to do organic as much as possible, so we get the best ingredients we can find!

Some of the ingredients we used for this cake:
Organic cane sugar
Organic powdered sugar
Organic grass fed butter
Rumford Baking powder
Organic eggs from free range chickens
Organic buttermilk

Again, it's still a typical, high calorie, high sugar cake, but much better for you than the chemicals in box cakes and really almost as easy! Benton and June loved it for sure!

Beachbody Coaching for Six Figure Earners

For me, the coaching opportunity is all about FREEDOM. I started my Beachbody journey when my son was 8 months old. I had not felt comfortable in my own skin for awhile, but was pretty much in denial, not wanting to actually DO something about it. I was eating JUNK every day.  My lunch consisted of hot dogs, doritos, dr. pepper, chef boy r d- yeah, I know, GROSS. I knew better, but it didn’t matter. I had no REASON to do better.  

Around this time, my son was starting to eat solid foods AND my husband got diagnosed with high cholesterol. So my reason for starting was two fold- set a positive example for my son- I knew if I wanted him to eat healthy, it had to start with me. AND, we had a short time frame to get my husband’s health back on track and keep him off medication. 

Enter shakeology and 10 minute trainer with my first challenge group. That’s what kept me pushing. I wasn’t perfect, but I pushed play every day because I knew I had to check in and stay accountable.

Just FOUR months after starting, Cass' cholesterol was back to normal, he had lost 35 pounds and I was below what I thought my goal weight was and we both felt better than ever. Less than a year after committing to working out at home daily, drinking shakeology, and constantly improving our eating habits, we both were in the best shape of our lives.




The coaching opportunity was presented to me as a discount on shakeology. I said no for TWO months before I finally signed up for the discount, realizing I had no plans to quit drinking it and I had already gotten my parents addicted to it too ;) Yep- I was THAT person- I said NO a lot and then just signed up for a discount.

After a few months, I saw my coach was running a goal setting group so I figured why not? I started that group AND joined a team cup team for the same reason- WHY NOT? That month I hit a HUGE goal, helping over 10 people start their health and fitness journeys and never looked back.

At the time, I was earning 6 figures as a dentist at a non-profit organization. You would think that would be a dream. I wasn’t even working crazy hours- just 4 days a week. I never even thought about staying home or the possibility of coaching replacing my income and actually becoming my full time job- Heck, just 6 months earlier I cared NOTHING about my health and fitness! 

I started setting goals for myself, and little by little started seeing the possibilities.
First, it was paying for our nanny.
Then, it became covering my student loans.
Then, it was to cover half of my salary so I back down to part time at my husband’s office.

That’s when I realized just how stressed I was asking for time off and constantly being nagged by the director where I worked. I dreaded going to work every day. I had a limited amount of time off and always worried if I had to stay home for some reason. Less than a year in to coaching, we found out I was pregnant and had to make a decision on what to do about my stressful work environment. Beachbody allowed me the opportunity and security to walk away. No- my full time, six figure income was not covered, but I was making enough that I was able to make the decision without much stress. Without Beachbody, I would probably still be stuck at that dead end job. Yes, I made good money, but I was miserable and the possibility of quitting when you’re making that kind of money is DAUNTING. To go in with my husband meant that we would have gone from two incomes to ONE and I would have been building a business from scratch.

Because of Beachbody, I have now been home for almost a year and a half, through my 2nd pregnancy and now with my two babies- 3 1/2 year old Benton and 10 month old baby June. It was a dream I didn’t even realize I had until it became my reality.



If YOU are making six figures a year and wonder WHY you should even LOOK at this opportunity, I get it! I've been there.

 My husband owns his own dental practice and has for about 5 years now. He makes the rules. He sets the hours. He controls his schedule. Sounds great right? But… He can ONLY work in the confines of his offices. Dentists can’t exactly work from home or while traveling. He can’t wake up one day and decide just to go on vacation. He has employees and patients counting on him to show up every day. If he isn’t there, he doesn’t earn money. The overhead in dentistry is outrageous and every vacation and time away have to be strategically planned. That is NOT freedom.

From the outside it looks perfect, and as far as office bound careers go, it’s about as good as it gets. But- it is STRESSFUL and it is far from FREE. I am creating a life that will allow him to continue to do what he loves, but also have the freedom to travel as we want and not stress about every day he’s away.

I honestly thought people who read “self help” books were WEIRD or just had something really weighing heavily on them that they needed HELP with.



When I discovered Beachbody, I realized just how LOST I had been and how much had been MISSING from my life.
When you are COMFORTABLE, you get complacent, forget about your big goals and dreams, and SETTLE for much LESS than you are capable of. A big paying job does not mean fulfillment and a life well lived. Think of your DREAMS and what your IDEAL life looks like!

Google calendar

As many of you know, time management has been a major focus for me this month. Over the last couple weeks, I have really been taking the time to figure out what works and what will help me.

As a mom with two little ones and a Beachbody business, I really need a good schedule but have never put in the effort to make one. Because of how much I love talking with my customers and coaches, I have fallen into the trap of working a lot more than I thought I was, due to being able to work from my phone all day. I found myself being present with my family in body only as I buried my head in my phone to respond to messages. I was letting my day be determined by others, not by me. I am determined to change that.

One of the first things I decided to start doing was planning out my days. Now, that doesn't mean every day goes perfectly as I laid it out on paper (or in my case, google calendar) but it really clears my mind and keeps me focused on the task at hand.

The first thing I did was create calendars. I based this on my priorities. It seems silly to need to put family time in the calendar as that is something you think would just happen naturally, but I found myself being so distracted during that time, constantly looking at my phone and putting other things first, that "family time" was really more "catch up time". In order to make sure I honor my priorities, those priorities go on the calendar. I'm still a work in progress for sure, but my goal is for no phone, i pad, or computer during those times so I'm focused on those I love most and they know how important they are.

I encourage you to figure out your priorities and really evaluate your days to see if you're putting your time where your heart is. Are you constantly looking at your phone and letting those who are not your priority dictate where your days go? Get your days and your time back!

Once I had my calendars made, I look week by week and lay out my ideal schedule. No- it does not always happen perfectly but it does keep me focused and helps me lose the mom guilt when I know I have specific time set aside and I am not losing site of the big picture!

My husband works Monday-Thursday and Benton goes to school from 9-2 on Tuesdays and Thursdays so I try to do a bulk of work during those times. I also focus work and calls while most of the house, or at least the kids, are sleeping. I still do a lot of calls at night during the week because most of my team still works full time, but am setting limits and finding what works for me and my family.

As a coach with over 300 team members, it is so easy to answer phone calls and messages at all hours, which is exactly why I'm trying to take control and better predict my day. This helps my productivity and allows me to be fresh and prepared and really devote time to one on one calls with those who are growing their businesses! I use acuity scheduler so I can set aside specific times for my team to have all my time. This has made a huge difference in making sure I stay organized and spread the LOVE.

This is only starting my third full week of using google calendars so I'm still learning and tweaking what is working every week. It will take time to perfect, and I am learning to give myself grace as I learn what works best for me and my family.

Success principles

Personal development is a HUGE part of my life, and I don't say that lightly. It has not always been this way! This has been a development in the last 2 years, since becoming a Beachbody coach. In fact, before than, I scoffed at the idea! I thought I was too good for "self help" books- that those were only for people who had real problems. Boy was I wrong! This is one of the EASIEST things to fit into your day, but also the easiest to avoid and let slip to the bottom of your list! Make sure to prioritize fueling your MIND as much as you prioritize fueling and taking care of your body!

Success leaves clues, and, lucky for us, the most successful people (whatever your definition of success) willingly share their habits and tips with us in the form of books, audiobooks, blogs, videos and podcasts! In fact, you can learn so much for FREE!

My favorite ways to absorb personal development and growth:
1- Podcasts- just download the podcast app and search for your favorite authors or topics.  My favorites right now are Chalene Johnson- The Chalene Show, Entreleadership, Lewis Howes- The School of Greatness, and the Charged Life with Brendon Burchard. These are all FREE!

2- Audiobooks - Download the audible app. These are what first got me into personal development because I wanted to make the most of my drive time. It only took me 10 minutes to get to work when I was working full time as a dentist, but I also came home at lunch so that added up to 40 minutes a day! I did that 4 days a week for the year I was working. That equals at least 138 HOURS of listening to POSITIVE, UPLIFTING, INSPIRING and USEFUL information! That's 138 hours that I could have just wasted away listening to music (which I do love and think there's a place for!) or listening to negative news (I don't like to fill my mind with any negative thoughts because what you think about, you become!). Can you imagine how positively influenced your life would be if you invested 138 hours into YOURSELF in a year?!? How much BETTER would you be- as a mom, wife, and friend?

3- Paper or electronic books. I have read electronically for years, but am really enjoying having paper books that I can highlight, start and dog ear to reference later and share with all of you! I'm currently reading The Success Principles by Jack Canfield and it is amazing- HIGHLY recommend it! It is deep, with a lot of takeaways to implement but it's ALL in there!

I was watching Brendon Burchard recently and he inspired me to make a video of my FAVORITE Success Principles! There are so many and my ideas and inspirations are constantly evolving, but check out my video on my top 3 impactful principles right now: Belief, Focusing on the Positive, and Gratitude!

Act As If...

One of the BIGGEST obstacles to SUCCESS is a lack of BELIEF and thinking your goals are so far away and unattainable. A great strategy to achieving great success is to "ACT AS IF you already are where you want to be." This sends commands to your subconscious mind to find ways to ACHIEVE those goals. What you THINK about, you will BRING about. It's the Law of Attraction at its finest.*

What do you want out of life? What goals do you have for yourself? What kind of person do you WANT to be? Act AS IF you are already living that life, AS IF you have already achieved your goals, AS IF you have already BECOME the person you want to be. If you want to live on an exotic island... You guessed it, act as if you already live there. If you want to lose 50 lbs- act as if you already did.

Tips for video on your iphone

So almost every day, I record myself on video with my phone. It is the easiest way for me to get in natural light when I'm making tutorials for my coaches, and I record my workouts most days to inspire others and for accountability. The more I make, the better I get so I've come across a few tips to make it easier.

First off, a Joby tripod is fantastic and makes set up so much easier. I did videos without it for a long time, but I had to get the phone set up just right and it could be frustrating ;)

I do everything right from the camera app that comes with the iphone. It is really easy to trim the ends of videos to crop out what you don't want. I literally just set up my phone and hit record and then trim it to what I want. Make sure to always record with your phone HORIZONTAL- that way when you upload to facebook or youtube, it fills up the entire frame and is easier for people to watch!

Two apps I have found that are fun are PicPlayPost, which allows you to put several video clips into one collage and Fast Slow, which allows you to speed up or slow down your videos.

The key to good quality is the lighting. This video was recorded at a window so I had indirect light. I do most of my videos outside on my porch. Hope this is helpful!

Road Trip Food Prep

Road trips are an easy excuse to let loose, pick up junk at gas stations, and detour through fast food drive-throughs. I've been there- My staples were combos, snickers, reese's cups and pieces, Dr. Peppers, gatorade, Ritz bitz. See a pattern? Yep- all JUNK and terrible for me!

When I started my health and fitness journey, traveling was something I had to change my mindset on. So- How can you avoid this trap when it's important to be HEALTHY, but not STARVE? ;) Prep, prep, prep. Did you know you can even carry food onto flights? Yep- done that too!

Easy road trip food:
-Tuna
-Boiled eggs
-Apples
-Cut strawberries
-Pears
-Power balls

I try not to eat too many processed foods, but my favorite is the KIND Healthy Grains Peanut Butter Dark Chocolate. I try to stick to gluten-free and non- GMO if not organic so these fit the bill! They're delicious too I might add! ;)



We ALWAYS travel with a cooler now! I also make June's baby food, so we need the cooler for that too!

The beauty of traveling with everything we need is no long stops for meals! Cass and I eat while we drive and ride and we were able to feed June quickly at the gas station. Doesn't she look like she was having so much fun hanging out on the cooler?


Our trip to Nashville today was about 8 hours. Just to give you an idea of what I ate:
Breakfast- blended chocolate shakeology with spinach before I left
Snack- Apple and two power balls
Lunch- Turkey burger, shakeology bar
Snack- Kind bar, strawberries

We'll have dinner out somewhere tonight- we have to take advantage of the local cuisine and enjoy ourselves! I always eat more carbs on a trip like this because the treats are so yummy and easy to grab! That's ok though! Still so much better than the alternatives!

The next few days will be BUSY at Beachbody's Coach Summit. We got a room with a fridge so we can be prepared and I can avoid getting HANGRY! For the room, I also have cooked green beans and spinach to add to my shakes. You CAN stay healthy while you travel! You don't have to throw away your goals and ideals of eating healthy!

3 Day Refresh update

After a fabulous and indulgent vacation, I took on the 3 day refresh! I loved it and loved my results! I felt better and lost the bloat!

In those 3 days, I still got to EAT, which is huge for me! Lots of fruits and veggies, healthy fats and protein and fiber! The 3 Day Refresh is AMAZING!

Speaking to High School Honors

I had the privilege to speak to both Middle and High schoolers at my alma mater last week. I have never gotten too nervous about speaking, but I really wanted to make sure I spoke to them, not at them about topics that could really help them in life. Kinda a lot to ask from a five minute speech ;) I really enjoyed it though and hope that the students and parents got something out of it!

I must say what an amazing blessing it is to even have the option to speak on a Thursday during the middle of the day and early evening. When I was invited, I didn't have to think about it or make sure I was able to take time off, I just did it! I was able to travel up to my parents' house with the kids on Wednesday and spend the day there on Thursday in between the two engagements. Not many jobs allow you to do that.

My husband is a dentist and owns his own practice, which obviously allows him to create his own schedule and control his time to a certain extent, but dentistry is not a profession that can be done from anywhere other than the physical office location. If he closes for a day, no patients will be helped, which means no money coming in. Therefore, we have to be very choosy about the time he takes away from the office. It would be tough to justify a day off to speak to students. 

Before Beachbody, I worked full time as a dentist for a non-profit organization and the only way to do something like this would have been to take a vacation day. Again- hard to justify taking a full day of vacation when you only have 2 weeks off for the full year! Every day, I realize a new reason why I am so grateful that I took the opportunity to become a coach. I never would have dreamed this is where I would be today.

That being said, I hope you all enjoy my speech! I did a similar on for the middle school but painted a fun picture of the scrawny, awkward girl I was back then ;)

FREE Success Club Trip takeaways

We just got back on Sunday from an amazing and FREE trip to Cancun at an all inclusive resort, the Moon Palace. I earned this trip by committing to doing what I LOVE- helping others find health and happiness! Having a nursing six month old baby girl meant we took the whole family! This was the first time either of the kids flew in an airplane so we knew it would be an adventure. Benton was SO excited to ride on the "toon plane"! My parents met us at the airport, the line was short and the kids did awesome through security!

We had a layover each way so we had to switch planes, but the kids did great! Benton was so excited to meet the captains each time and get his wings!


We arrived in Cancun around 7:30 PM so we had some tired kiddos. June slept on me in her carrier and Benton was still running wide open! We got all checked in and our room was amazing with a HUGE tub in the middle and a balcony with a hammock.

Day 1:
Seay blessed Becky, Jen and I with massages so we had an amazing time relaxing, hanging out in the spa and talking about life and brainstorming!

The rest of the day was spent relaxing at the pool and June's first time ever in a swimsuit and pool! This resort was HUGE with so much to do and see.


That night, our wonderful friend, Lisa, kept the kids for us so we could actually go out to an "adults only" dinner. We went to a fabulous Italian restaurant, and, yes, it was still all inclusive so we just continued eating and drinking as long as they supplied us ;)


Day 2:
First things first this morning, I got my workout in with Shaun T! He has such an amazing energy. We did an an Insanity workout and it was AMAZING!

 
After our workouts, we traveled over to the Beach Palace to enjoy the BEACH! The kids enjoyed a nap on the bus ride over and it was absolutely beautiful- totally worth the 30 minute trip. We had an awesome time at the beach and pool and went up to the Sky Bar to enjoy the wonderful view!

That night we enjoyed dinner and time with Team Refinery. It is hard to put into words how amazing and rewarding it is to be surrounded by like-minded and positive people. We shared ideas and enjoyed each others' company. I have never been around so many inspiring people who constantly lift each other UP and support one another.



Day 3:
I got my workout in with Autumn while Cass braved the gym with BOTH kids! I am so blessed to have such a supportive husband and amazing daddy to our kids!

The rest of our day was spent relaxing with lots of new friends at the pool- June slept a lot! We spent time at the kiddie pool for Benton too! The part that threw a wrench in our night was when Cass fell holding Benton going down the ramp into the pool! He busted his elbow open pretty good, lots of blood and really scary for a bit! Luckily that was late afternoon so we were pretty much done anyway! I tell you- that really makes you take a look at your life and where you are though! He is a dentist (as am I technically) by profession and one wrong slip can completely derail the future. That is SCARY! Nothing in life is guaranteed or secure, but I love that we have Beachbody to fill the void and ensure our future!

One of the best parts of this experience and Beachbody in general is the great friendships I've formed. It has been such an amazing blessing for us and I am so grateful, especially for my success partner and best friend, Becky! Without Beachbody, I never would have even met her! That's is hard to believe!





Beachbody did it right for the farewell reception with live music, tons of food and an awesome fireworks display! The kids both slept right through it! Notice June peaking in the above pic ;) And Benton made himself a bed in the bottom of the stroller!

What an amazing trip and a perfect send off!


Day 4:
We had to be out the door at THREE AM! Talk about tough! I just knew the kids would go right back to sleep, but NO. They were wide awake!

 Our first flight was not quite as smooth as the ones on the way to Cancun. The seating arrangements weren't ideal and Benton wanted to be all over the place and June was not interested in sleeping! We got through customs and security easily with time to spare before our next flight though! Unfortunately, we sat and waited for over an hour ON the plane due to bad weather but the kids did great! Benton even got to sit with the captain and "shoot canons". That made it very special for sure!






Overall, the trip was AMAZING! We are so blessed to have the opportunity to take the entire family on a trip like this! I'm sure in the future we'll take advantage of being able to go by ourselves, but I love having the option to include the kids! I always dreamed of my kids having even more opportunities than I did as far as traveling goes, and so far we seem to be right on track! Benton has been out of the country twice and now they have both flown, with June leaving the country at just six months old! NEVER would have happened without Beachbody!
